Why I’m Running
Walnut Creek is more than where I live. It’s where I chose to build my life.
I’m the oldest son of a Vietnam veteran and a school nurse. Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, my parents would say that we were the “poor, but happy Moran family.” So I learned early the importance of hard work, service, and taking responsibility for the community around you.
After building a career in television production, the financial crisis changed everything. Jobs disappeared, and at the same time, my wife and I were starting a family. I faced a defining choice: leave California and start over elsewhere, or stay and build a future here.
I chose Walnut Creek.
I changed careers, put down roots, and committed to this community. Three kids later, a new business, and more than a decade of civic service as a city commissioner and a volunteer with organizations like the Walnut Creek Library Foundation, I’ve seen firsthand how local decisions shape everyday life.
Housing affordability, traffic, public safety, and quality of life aren’t abstract issues. They affect families, seniors, and neighborhoods every day. I believe local leadership matters more than ever, and that steady, thoughtful decision making, not political noise, is what will protect Walnut Creek’s future.
I’m running for City Council because I believe in this city, I’ve invested my life here, and I want to help ensure Walnut Creek remains a place where families can thrive today and for generations to come.
I’d be honored to earn your support.
